Your dissertation is one of the most crucial papers that you will have to write in your degree program. You will be expected to write a paper that is both substantial and unique. Thesis or Hypothesis

This is the main point of your essay and will make a huge difference in the success of your paper. Having a solid and effective hypothesis is essential. Write down a series of research questions pertaining to your topic. As you start your research, you should be able to narrow this information down to an effective thesis statement.

Supporting details

Back up your claims with details supporting your claims. You should support every claim that you make with a scholarly source. This will make the claims more valid to your audience.

References

The references that you choose will make a big difference on the success of your paper as well. You want to make sure that you are choosing peer reviewed or verifiable references. Do not use too many internet sources. You should find your sources in journals, magazines, and books. These are sources that have been verified for validity. If you plan to use a source, be sure to write down the exact citation information in the proper recommended format. Also write a short summary about what the article is about. You will need this information for the literature review section of your paper. If you wait until the end to write the summary, you may forget what the article was about so write them as you go.

Formatting

Make sure to format your paper within the guidelines set forth by the school. Determine which writing format that they want you to use and make sure you set your paper up in those guidelines. Also check to see if they require any other pieces to be added. You may be able to get some help setting it up if you get a dissertation sample. If you can get a sample, you will be able to use it as a guide. It will be helpful to see what tone to use and how to set up your paper.

Definitions

You should define all technical terms with a reference or published definition. This is an essential point because your audience not only needs to know what some of these words are but more importantly that you know what the words mean. This can also help you make sure that you used the words in the right context.
