How To Write A History Dissertation Conclusion: A Quick Guide

History is a fluid subject. Events that happened a mere minute ago are history. You probably want to narrow down the area you want to focus on first. Some of the many areas are World, American, Eastern, Western, and state. Then decide if you want to write this important paper on an event, politics, rulers, other people, policy, or wars. Once you narrow those details down, use our following advice to assist you with your history dissertation:

Tips

  • Pick your topic with the aid of your faculty advisor.
  • Then once you create the thesis statement, meet with the advisor, and wait for topic approval.
  • Once approved, line up all of your interviews first.
  • Then make an organized schedule for the production and completion of this most important paper.
  • When you interview, make sure to over-interview. It is far better to have surplus interviews than not to have enough interviews. You can interviews, professors, writers, businessmen, explorers, reporter, and your peers. For people whom you cannot interview personally, set up a Skype or an email interview.
  • Have a dedicated workspace. The kitchen table is not a good choice. You will spend close to a year on this and this is the most important paper you will write, so give it the space it deserves.

So, now you have written the paper except for the conclusion. There are several important things to remember about constructing the paper’s conclusion.

Tips

  • Summarize your main idea, but do not re-tell every thing in the paper that you said.
  • Finish strong and do not waver in your ideas or thoughts.
  • Restate the thesis statement, but use synonyms and rephrase it.
  • Make sure the close is very strong.
  • You can use a quote, strong thought, or story as a tool.
  • Include a universal statement in this important last paragraph.
  • Do not introduce any new ideas or facts. You never do that at the close.
  • Make sure your spelling, sentence structure, citations, and word choice is perfect. You want to finish the paper as strong as you possibly can.

Your conclusion will be the last thing that your audience reads. You have to make sure it is perfect and that it leaves a strong impression with your readers. These readers will be the board, peers, experts in the field, and other interested parties. Do the best job possible!
